Safety before troubleshooting.

Use the appropriate emergency route before reading a guide, checking a postal code or waiting for a message reply.

Carbon monoxide alarm

Get everyone outside immediately and call 911 from a safe location. Do not re-enter until emergency responders or the appropriate qualified professionals say it is safe. Carbon monoxide cannot be detected by smell. Do not assume that a quiet furnace or a temporary return of heat establishes safety.

Suspected natural gas leak

Leave the area immediately. From a safe location, call Enbridge Ontario at 1-866-763-5427 or 911. Do not operate switches or use a phone inside the suspected leak area, try to find the leak, relight an appliance or continue the website checklist.

Other immediate hazards

Smoke, fire, standing water near energized equipment or another immediate danger require an appropriate emergency response. Stay clear and call for help from a safe place. Do not approach a hazardous control to shut something off.

Loss of heat without an alarm

An ordinary no-heat problem still needs timely attention, especially as indoor temperatures fall. Arrange a safe place for occupants where needed. Never use an outdoor barbecue, generator or fuel-burning patio heater indoors. This website does not promise emergency dispatch or immediate response.
